Economic shocks have devastating impacts on individuals, in ways both humanitarian and economic. Developing countries are particularly vulnerable to these effects and the damage caused by economic shocks impacts their development processes, setting-back poverty reduction efforts.
We would like to thank our conference presenters and participants for contributing towards an interesting and insightful gathering that shed light on various types of shocks faced by developing countries, their impacts and coping strategies. This specialised group benefited from a close exchange over the two days on topics ranging from climate change, natural disasters, the role of behavioural economics in developing countries, macroeconomics and financial crises, to food security, health shocks, insurance and financial inclusion. Thank you for making the conference a great success!
